In our mission to stop men dying too young, we’re seeking a passionate Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (Health Literacy) to join our Movember Institute based in Australia.
About the role
The purpose of the Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (Health Literacy) role is to design, commission, oversee and share the learnings from monitoring and evaluation activities conducted within Movember's Health Literacy Impact Portfolio. The role is focussed on facilitating internal organisational learning, contributing to building the evidence of what improves the health literacy of men, and sharing this evidence externally to drive knowledge translation into practice.
Some of your responsibilities will be:
Partner with the Global Director of Health Literacy and all health literacy program teams to understand MEL needs and design fit for purpose MEL approaches.
Develop a theory of change for the Health Literacy Impact Portfolio and develop individual program logics for each health literacy program, underpinned by behavioural science or implementation science models.
Commission and manage external consultants to co-develop a MEL Plan and conduct the planned MEL activities. Oversee the quality of key MEL deliverables from external consultants.
Be responsible for the submission of HREC submissions, ethical monitoring and reporting.
Be responsible for the implementation and reporting of the monitoring plan for each health literacy program.
Be responsible for the implementation of the monitoring and learning components of each MEL Plan, guiding internal and external learning activities. Where applicable, facilitate iterative cycles of learning within each health literacy team during the implementation phase of each program. Adopt a continuous improvement approach to assist with the monitoring of progress and uncovering of insights along the way that could be shared more broadly.
Liaise with Program, Advocacy, Marketing and Fundraising teams to share and promote the uptake of the evidence accrued. Present evaluation learnings at conferences and write peer-reviewed journal publications amongst other knowledge sharing activities.
Actively participate in raising the literacy levels of the organisation about MEL methods and the value of evaluative thinking and learning.
Contribute to a supportive and collaborative team. Proactively identify the need for new MEL policies, processes, frameworks and tools, and contribute to their development and addition to the MEL team toolkit.
For this role, you’ll need:
Relevant post graduate qualifications in evaluation, public/population health, psychology, behavioural science, implementation science, medical research, or market research.
Professional experience working in a health-focussed context and experience in working at the prevention and/or early intervention end of the health system spectrum.
Skill and experience in monitoring and evaluation end-to-end project management (~10 years). Preferably projects that relate to health promotion, health literacy and/or digital health products.
An understanding of, and experience working with, models of human behaviour and/or social determinants of health.
Skill and experience in supporting staff from non-research or evaluation functional areas to understand and value MEL work and evaluative thinking.
Skill and experience in the development of theories of change and program logics.
Skill and experience In using a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
An understanding of website analytics and media agency metrics and the types of data that can be mined from these.
Skill and experience in communicating research and/or evaluation results to a range of audiences using a variety of mediums and channels.
Demonstrated skills in anticipating and solving problems.
Bonus points for:
Experience in either working as a consultant, or commissioning and working with external consultants, especially those from media agencies and market research consultancies.
Experience in health promotion and/or health literacy campaign evaluation.
Experience working in gendered health issues, mental health, oncology, or market research.
Experience using co-design methods and capturing the perspectives of key stakeholders in campaign/program development and evaluation.
Experience triangulating quantitative and qualitative research data with digital analytics to generate evaluation insights and recommendations.
Experience developing or working with outcome frameworks and developing indicators & measures.
Experience working within, or knowledge of, a collective impact model approach.
Knowledge and experience using psycho-social measures, particularly those used in mental health, or with young people.
Peer-reviewed journal publications and/or experience in presenting at conferences.
Experience working in a global context.
